Becrypt provide a range of Cyber Security products and services, specialising in Mobile and Cloud platforms. Becrypt has a 14 year heritage of providing Enterprise Data Protection solutions and Engineering Services, innovating to provide the highest levels of product assurance. Today, our Secure Mobile and Cloud solutions allow diverse platforms to be adopted within the enterprise with confidence. We bring together extensive domain knowledge and technical expertise to help organisations optimize the use of new technologies, whilst minimizing risk and complexity.
70% of our business is within the UK public sector, including both central Government departments and the wider public sector. Within the private sector, whether small, medium or large, we tend to sell to the more security conscious businesses, such as Finance, Energy and Pharmaceuticals.
Creating growth for Becrypt requires the maintenance of an established product line, whilst achieving meaningful product innovation. The ILP provided an effective and timely platform to take evolving product ideas to a range of industry and government stakeholders to obtain both a valuable profile and feedback. Whilst a little gruelling at the time, input from the ILP allowed Becrypt to shape both product direction and messaging more rapidly than otherwise could have been achieved.
The Cloud product and line show-cased at ILP was generating circa £100K in 2011.
The specific product line has grown approximately three fold to current financial year to more than £300K. However, this includes initial tranches of related services work with significantly larger future revenue potential.
There are few things more valuable to an SME than mentoring. Large organisations have the luxury of better affording a broad range of talent and experience, and by their nature are typically better engaged with customer stakeholders. The ‘friendly’ grillings, challenges and feedback that the ILP sessions allowed were invaluable.
It has been great to meet other entrepreneurs through ILP networking events. There is, of course, value in hearing and sharing how business problems have been solved, but sometimes just being reminded that you’re not alone, or tapping in to the energy of others can be rejuvenating – helping to feed the next spark of innovation.
Start-ups need credibility to get customers, but often need new customers to get credibility in new market sectors. Government has done a lot to facilitate SMEs as suppliers to Government, but there would be significant value if Government could do more to facilitate engagement between industry and the SME supply base for specific targeted market verticals. Industry fora that encouraged supply chain innovation through collaboration, encouraging agility and controlled risk taking with SMEs would, I believe, stimulate growth.
